MicMas ReMiX will be celebrating a 2 year anniversary this summer! It has been an amazing journey connecting with so many inspiring women on the entrepreneur path. Initially, hair care and sharing the message that "todo pelo es pelo bueno" because the texture doesn't determine whether it's good or bad was the only objective.
However, the creative juices continued and I wanted to express natural hair pride further with creating apparel and accessories. In addition, I wanted to help bring awareness of Latinas of African descent because I strongly feel that we ALL should be included AND represented. Representation matters! Latinas culturally are diverse from Mexican to Panamanian to Puerto Rican to Honduran to Costa Rican etc. in the same way we are diverse in phenotype. How dark or light you are or coily or straight your hair is doesn't make you any more or less Latina.
So collectively, I figured out a way to mold these messages into my brand. It has been a blessing having media outlets both big and small take notice and help expand my audience reach. I am grateful and never expected this type of recognition so it truly means a lot and has been very encouraging for me. A big thank you to Essence, REMEZCLA, BuzzFeed and everyone else who has recommended MicMas ReMiX products.
Something I will also continue to do is give back to Puerto Rico. In January we sent gifts with affirmation messages for Three Kings Day to children displaced in shelters by Hurricane Maria. It was an extra special project for me because my children were involved in addition to the caring people who helped make everything possible. This is the beginning of a new year with continued outreach to Puerto Rico.
I am a big believer in passing on the blessings that are received. And with that said, MicMas ReMiX promises to continue being that positive force to encourage women to love not only the skin they're in but also the hair they were blessed with. Self Love. Uplifting Women and Puerto Rican Communities. Is MicMas ReMiX's objective.
