If you haven't been following on Instagram... what a year 2018 was for MicMas ReMiX! It was filled with so many blessings and of course in the true spirit of MicMas ReMiX it was important to pass on the blessings. Various media outlets both big and small continued to cover MicMas ReMiX products and its message that hair texture doesn't determine whether it is good or bad. As well as express the need for greater representation in the media for Latinas/Latinos of African descent. Representation matters!
Special thanks to BuzzFeed, REMEZCLA, FIERCE by mitu, mitu, Lumynex Naturals, LATINX, Yahoo Lifestyle, teen vogue and Oprah Magazine for recommending MicMas ReMiX products. An extra special shoutout to HIP LATINA for interviewing and featuring Adassa from MicMas ReMiX in their article, "Afro-Latina All-Natural Hair Care Line Does Away With "Pelo Malo". That was an especially special and exciting moment to speak more on the brand's mission and its message.
Working with Second Union Church in Guaynabo again for their "Operation Backpack" program couldn't have been done without our customers! Being able to send not just backpacks but backpacks filled with school supplies was beyond a blessing to make happen. To see the childrens smiles as they received everything made it worth the extra hustle. This was MicMas ReMiX's second year being a part of "Operation Backpack" and is a charitable contribution that will continue being done for many years to come.
Last year was also the first colloborative effort of many amazing artists coming together for a single cause: Hurricane Maria relief. It was led by a very talented artist by the name of Ponce for Power Malu's, "Step Up 4 PR" fundraiser and was a huge success. Collectively, we were able to raise enough money for 70 water filters/buckets for 70 households and 100 solar lights with the USB charges for 100 households. These water filters can filter up to 540 gallons a day! So in many cases, it was also a gift that kept giving as most were able to share amongst their neighbors for cleaner water.
It was such an honor when University of Santa Barbara in California reached out for us to be a part of their empowering event, "Redefining Beauty". This event's focus was to empower women of color and learn about the importance of representation within the beauty|fashion industry. It was the perfect platform for MicMas ReMiX to help spread the message that "todo pelo es pelo bueno" and also open the discussion about inclusion for Latinas of African descent.
Now we are two weeks into the new year and January was MicMas ReMiX's first ever print ad in the magazine, "El Coqui Of Rincón" putting into fruitation another dream to introduce the brand locally. Currently, MicMas ReMiX hair products may be bought at Norma On Riverdale Salon in the Bronx, NY. However, we are working on starting out small with selling a couple of products at the Art Walk along with some new designs created on apparel and tote bags next month inspired for our love of grafitti and new hometown.
We are committed to continue providing our customers with high quality products that deliver along with excellent customer service. Thank you for trusting us with your hair and skin care needs. Our brand is continually evolving and MicMas ReMiX is very excited to see what unfolds in 2019 and wish all of you a happy new year filled with many blessings and good health!
