TaínaSoy is home to the first Earthship in Puerto Rico. It is being designed by and built in partnership and collaboration with Earthship Biotecture. This Earthship community center will be used to teach the community for free about sustainable living in regards to energy, water and agriculture. It will also serve as a safe haven in the event of another natural disaster.
MicMas ReMix had the opportunity to volunteer for Phase 4 and is looking forward to Phase 5 with continuing the progress on the first Earthship in Puerto Rico. Volunteers are still needed! If you are interested in participating for this 12 day project, that begins February 18th through March 2nd, 2020, please read on!
Puerto Rican residents interested in volunteering, please contact TaínaSoy directly at TainaMiaRelief@gmail.com.

What is an Earthship?
An Earthship is a state-of-the-art self-sustainable off-grid building that follows six basic principles, covering six basic human needs by:
- Building with Natural and Repurposed materials.
- Heating and cooling through thermal mass to create a comfortable living environment.
- Using wind and solar energy to create electricity.
- Harvesting and filtering rain water to provide drinking and wash water.
- Containing and treating its own waste water without external contamination.
- Producing its own food in an integrated greenhouse.
In addiiton, Earthships are resistant to natural disasters such as typhoons and earthquakes.
